That transition slowed down the party pace here in the Capital City, giving us all a chance to catch our breath. And, we’re going to need to because this spring is jam packed with events. You can keep track of them on Pam’s Party Calendar at theadvocate.com/columnists/pambordelon/8530318-123/story.html. Drop me an email at pbordelon@theadovcate to get your event listed.Dancing for Big BuddyOne of those upcoming events is the eighth annual Dancing for Big Buddy, which takes place April 26 at LSU’s Pete Maravich Assembly Center. This year’s star dancers, professionals, judges and Big Buddy board members got together for the traditional “getting to know you” luncheon March 7 at Sullivan’s Steakhouse. It was hosted by star dancer alumnus and general manager Leo Verde, who was also celebrating his 50th birthday. As typically happens at this event, the trash talk began as everyone started to share and compare notes about their routines. Star dancer Lonnie Stockwell’s dance was proclaimed “fast, hot and physical” by his professional dancer partner Lisa White. WBRZ’s Michael Marsh is reportedly dusting off his platform shoes for his disco routine with Claire Broyles. And, Patrick Valluzzo, who was leading in the online votes at lunchtime, offered to make a donation to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation if it would sway judge John Spain, BRAF’s executive vice president.Their fellow star dancers include Stephanie Anderson, Allison Collins, Renea Dunffin, Ashley Hebert, Melanie Hebert-Wyatt, Gabby Loubiere, Dr. Aimée Russo-Mounger, Darrin Godd Sr. Tracy Smith and Michael Tipton.Scholarship LuncheonBefore heading to Sullivan’s, I popped into the Baton Rouge Country Club for the Campus Club Style Show & Scholarship Luncheon, “Roar Into Spring.” Welcoming the hundred-plus guests was President Chris Enright and luncheon co-chairwoman Mara Malone. Her fellow co-chairwomen included Janet Hersbergen, Rhetta Sellers, Jane Byer, Marilyn Cramer, Mary Dommert, Ann Guedry, Jean Hamilton and Mary Helen Hamilton.Shalaii Burrell emceed the style show, featuring spring and summer fashions from SteinMart.
