In case you haven’t noticed the cooler evenings, those are another sign that flu season is around the corner.
Louisiana’s Office of Public Health is issuing its reminder for people to get a flu shot, either at the clinics or pharmacies offering them, or at a public health unit.
In addition to protecting against the seasonal flu, new studies suggest the vaccine may also protect against heart attacks and stroke, officials said.
The shots at the health units are $10, but free to those with insurance or Medicare or Medicaid cards.
“There is no simpler, safe and effective decision we can make to stay healthy this flu season than getting the flu vaccine,” said J.T. Lane, of the Office of Public Health.
It’s good advice for the fall.
