Step back in time and celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas at The Rock Church’s annual Cowboy Christmas from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Church members recreated a Western town, complete with blacksmith shop, bakery and general store.

As visitors tour the town, they will be entertained with gospel and Christmas music.

Christmas Sock Hop Friday

The annual Ascension Senior Christmas Sock Hop kicks off at noon Friday in the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center gym.

The band will perform until 3 p.m. Admission is free to seniors.

Blood drive Monday

St. Amant High School is hosting a community blood drive from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, school officials said.

The drive is being held to benefit Addison Claire Englade, who was born Nov. 9 and diagnosed with stage 4S neuroblastoma cancer, Gerri Englade, Addison’s grandmother, said.

Hospital plans open house

St. Elizabeth Hospital’s first Christmas open house and hospital tour will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the hospital, 1125 W. La. 30, in Gonzales.

Christmas cookies, apple cider and hot chocolate will be served.

St. Elizabeth will be collecting new toys or monetary donations for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Christmas Crusade for Children.

The hospital is raffling a chance to win a Christmas wreath. Participants must be present to win.

Project Gonzales toy drive

A local insurance agency has launched Project Gonzales Toy Drive to collect toys for area children.

Carmouche Insurance has joined forces with Osh Kosh B Gosh and St. James Behavioral Health Hospital in Gonzales to collect toys through Dec. 22.

The agency is documenting the project and posting drop-offs and toy deliveries on a YouTube video Christmas day.

Carmouche will donate $1 to the project for every “like” the agency receives on its Facebook page.

Toys can be dropped off at Carmouhce Insurance, 516 N. Burnside Ave., in Gonzales; St. James Behavioral Health Hospital, 3136 St. Landry Drive; or Osh Kosh, 2400 Tanger Blvd.

Library sing-a-long set

The Ascension Parish Library’s Carols in the Courtyard sing-a-long is set to start at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gonzales location.

Center Stage Performing Arts Academy owners Linda and Larry Schexnayder will lead those attending in popular and traditional carols.

After the singing, hot chocolate and holiday treats will be served.
