At Chad Zabadie’s going away party at Ivar’s Sports Bar and Grill last week, a vast majority of the “kids” in the newsroom were impressed with my dancing skills. Our Rosa Flores was also amazed when I performed gangnam on our 4 p.m. broadcast. During August, it was common for Native Americans to do a rain dance that I also know. This dance includes difficult steps in a circular path in lines and zigzagging patterns. Both men and women participate to emphasize the need for rain. Other weather-related dances that I am also proficient include: the “Slide,” for slippery weather; the “Dump,” for moving snow; the “Hula,” for tropical weather; the “Hustle,” for severe weather; the “Limbo,” for quiet days and the “Shimmy,” for cold days.
