The Association Cultural Latino Acadiana will host its annual “Latin Music Festival” from noon until 10 p.m. Oct. 6 at Parc International in downtown Lafayette.

The event will feature music, arts and crafts, food from local Latin restaurants and dance demonstrations.

The festival is free.

Upper Lafayette meets

The Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation will hold a luncheon meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 19 at the LITE Center on Cajundome Boulevard in Lafayette.

Rusty Cloutier, from MidSouth Bank, and Jerry Vascocu, from IBERIABANK, will discuss local banking outlook.

Hazardous waste

Batteries, paint, household chemicals, motor oil, appliances, electronics and other household hazardous waste will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 15 at the city of Scott Maintenance building, 118 Lions Club St.

Items will be accepted only from Scott residents.

A driver’s license, water bill or other proof of residency will be required.

Digital media workshops

AOC Community Media in Lafayette is offering several digital media workshops beginning Sept. 4.

Introductory classes in cinematography will be taught, as well as more intensive classes in production, editing and directing.

Pancake breakfast

The Kiwanis Club of Acadiana will host its annual “Zydeco Pancake Breakfast” fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 13 at Acadian Village in Lafayette.

Music will be provided by Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp band.

Tickets are $5.

Jambalaya cook-off

The Breaux Bridge Chamber of Commerce will host a jambalaya cook-off Sept. 8 at Veteran’s Park on Berard Street.

The fee to compete is $50 per team.

The event will include live Cajun music and children’s activities. Admission is free, but there is a $5 fee to sample the jambalaya.

Hot dog fundraiser

The Lafayette Council on Aging will host a “Hot Dogs for Seniors” fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at Girard Park in Lafayette.

The cost is $6 for a hot dog, chili, chips, drink and cookie.

All proceeds will support the Lafayette Council on Aging and its programs.

Hospice training

The Hospice of Acadiana is offering a volunteer training session at 8:45 a.m. Oct. 1.

Volunteers are needed to serve throughout Acadiana.
