Pat Shingleton’s Weather for August 19, 2012

Sarah Vincent corrected me on a storm we recognized. We incorrectly referred to Hurricane Betsy as one of the August storms displayed with Category 5 storms: Camille and Katrina. Friday marked the anniversary of Hurricane Camille in 1969. Other August entries include: Andrew, Gustav, Carmen and Elena. Those who experienced storms have memories of the wind, flooding rain and storm surges that these cyclones created. Post-traumatic stress disorder relates not only to those experiencing difficult military experiences but any event that results in psychological trauma creating severe anxiety disorder.
