In 1978, photographer Grey Hammett and I scripted and replicated the Rocky Balboa scene from the blockbuster movie, “Rocky.” The scene showed the prize fighter sprinting through the streets of Philadelphia. Our video depicted me, doing the same, as the “punchiest weatherman in town.” I grew up in a neighborhood where we had to “take care of ourselves,” but this video depicted me as the weatherman-fighter causing a few “threatening” situations.

On Monday, in Johnson City, Tenn., WJHL-TV weatherman Rob Williams experienced a more severe, threatening occasion. In the early morning hours, Gerald D. Taylor broke into Williams’ home during an apparent robbery. Williams told police before he ran from his home, Taylor shot at him with a crossbow, then fired a pistol, but missed. Fastcast: Sticky.
