Summer Fun Day set at Sports Park
The West Feliciana Drug and Alcohol Awareness Council will hold its fifth annual Summer Fun Day for children from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the West Feliciana Sports Park at Hardwood. The free attractions will include a petting zoo, games and rides, rock walls, water slides, music and other entertainment, face painting and clowns.
State Police will have a helicopter on site, and sheriff’s deputies and fire departments will give demonstrations of equipment and safety procedures.
The event also is sponsored by the West Feliciana Sheriff’s Office, 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and West Feliciana Sports and Recreation.
Camp sessions set
Base Camp Greenwood offers adventure day camps for children and teens this summer at BREC’s Greenwood Community Park. The Marmots Camp will be June 11-15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children 5-6. The fees are $90 for parish residents and $108 for out-of-parish residents.
Coyotes Camp has four sessions: June 18-22, June 25-29, July 16-20 (girls only) and July 23-27 (boys only) for children 7-10. The fees are $110 for in-parish campers; $132 for others.
Bighorns Camp will be July 9-13 for kids 11-14, with fees also set at $110 and $132. Coyotes and Bighorns will take two field trips to adventure destinations during the week.

St. Francisville United Methodist Church will have a Market Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church on Royal Street, featuring silent auction throughout the day and a live auction at 1:30 p.m. of items donated by members and local businesses. Visit the bake sale, but leave room for lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Free trumpet recital
Brian Shaw, professor of trumpet at LSU; Philip Hembree, Indiana University graduate and Rice University masters student; and David Perkins, Hart School of Music masters student, will present a summer trumpet recital at 7 p.m. Saturday at Plains Presbyterian Church, La. 964 in Zachary. The public is invited.

Frances Durham, a native of Clinton, will be honored at a reception at Backwoods Gallery in St. Francisville from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Thrift shop open
Dorcas Door, the thrift store at 11152 Church St. behind First Baptist Church in Clinton, will be open 9 a.m. to noon Saturday for a $5 bag sale of new and nearly new clothing.
