Employee marks 35 years with Eatel

Eatel Corp employees gathered last week to celebrate Steve Babin’s 35th anniversary with the company.

“We’re certainly proud to have Steve here,” Smokey Scanlan, chief executive officer and treasurer of Eatel, said. “He saw the company when it was just a few cables and everyone was on a ‘party line’ and we look forward to having him continue to see the growth we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing in recent years.”

“Eatel serves as one of the most innovative communication companies in the country,” John Scanlan, Eatel president and vice chairman. “But more than that, Eatel is one of the most loyal companies, too, having served and employed local community members for over 75 years.”

Babin met his wife, Cindy while working at Eatel. Today, his son Joey also works for the company.

“It’s more like this is a family here,” Babin said. “Everybody is friends here. Everybody gets along and knows each other’s kids. It’s been quite a good experience here at Eatel.

“I plan to keep on here, providing good service to all of our customers,” Babin said. “We just keep growing and I’m excited to see where we’ll go in the future.”
